    Taking Pocha to Las Cruces

Pocha was accepted into the 2025 Feminist Border Arts Film Festival! It was the 10th annual event held at New Mexico State University and it also included a zine fest featuring local artists.

Our lead actress Madahi and I took a quick day trip to Las Cruces. I’d never been before, so it’s fun to explore a city that’s not too far from home.

We had amazing, authentic tasting Mexican food at Andale Restaurant at the suggestion of several friends and on our way back we grabbed coffee at Grounded.

We saw so many high-quality documentaries centered on strong women telling their stories. It was truly an honor to be included with such important stories being told.

The organizers and volunteers were so kind and welcoming. We were even invited to do a Q&A after Pocha screened. The moderator (shoutout Jess!) guided our discussion and even shared their own story and connection to our film.

We talked about the challenges of making our film, and the inspiration behind it. So many people took the time to let us know how they connected with the story, which never fails to make every insecurity I have about the movie disappear.

By far the best part of this whole process is the connections I made before, during, and after the production of this film. I’ll never forget the kind things people have said about Pocha, and be eternally grateful for this experience.
